Hole was a site specific work by Thomas Wray to be installed at The Holy Name Church, Oxford Road, Manchester. The work is composed of red wine contained in a circular steel vessel to form a reflective pool. During the course of the exhibition the wine will gradually evaporate, transforming from a mirror like surface to a rich dark residue.
“The history of europe is the history of wine”
“When you view my vessels of red wine you are not just struck by its intense reflective beauty celebrating the history around it, but you are face to face with the idea of sacrifice. Placing hundreds of years into the development of a liquid art only to be enjoyed for just one instant”
